In case you haven’t heard, the yearly, most extravagant Gala was held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York last night. The event where high-wattage celebrities come dressed to impress with the most mesmerising outfits.  2019’s Blockbuster Spring Costume theme was ‘Camp: Notes on Fashion’, which is said to have been inspired by Susan Sontag’s 1964 essay ‘ Notes on ‘Camp’ that is well known for normalising the notion of ‘Camp’. The event “will examine how fashion designers have used their metier as a vehicle to engage with camp in a myriad of compelling, humorous, and sometimes incongruous ways”.  Hosting this years’ event was Lady Gaga, Serena Williams and Harry Styles.

The Kardashians have always been a family of fashion icons and their attire to this years Met Gala was no exception. Kim Kardashian with her stunning faux wet look, channels Sophia Loren in Boy on a Dolphin, 1957. Several hours before the gala, Kim posted the iconic Loren picture captioning it “mood” hinting to her fans the art they were soon to see. The iconic duo did not disappoint either. The two made a grand entrance with their coordinated, feather ensemble Versace gowns. The sister act did not shy away and is said to be one of the most on theme looks.

Next we have our host, who not only blew away the crowd with one outfit but four! Arriving in her first gown by Brandon Maxwell, she was accompanied by a entourage of suited and booted men, holding large umbrellas. Her second outfit was revealed by her pink cape being shed to uncover the strapless elegant black gown . Third outfit was then back to figure hugging hot pink gown. Finally a black bra, pants and sky- high black platform boots. Gaga’s outfits alternated from fuchsia pink to seductive black. Her over the top doll makeup was kept the same throughout all outfit changes, however, her fuchsia coloured bow was removed by the second outfit.

However Gaga was not the belle of the ball this time. Zendaya was the one lighting up the pink carpet last night. The princess arrived bringing the Cinderella fairytale to life. The breath-taking Tommy Hilfiger dress gleamed shades of silver and light blue and even included a performance with her very own fairy godmother who transformed her cinder gown, to the mesmerising gown, even Cinderella would be jealous of.
